Padstow

We hopped a ferry from Rock to Padstow today (a 5 minute ride on a boat that is more landing craft than ferry) with The Bean and two of her friends, Alison and Hew. We shopped (mostly for food - Cornish pasties (pronounced 'pass-tee') are a delicious specialty here, as is the seafood).

We gorged on shellfish before the skies opened and we ran back for the ferry. We got drenched.

For a few short moments we took refuge in a cave on the beach, with a bunch of other sodden travelers, which was really...strange. There we were. Also weird to be boarding a boat from the shore. I felt like we were storming the beaches of Normandy. But we all had a lovely, delicious afternoon (so delicious that I nearly sliced off my thumb on the pointy bits of a stone crab claw and hardly paused eating for the application of a plaster).

Charlotte particularly enjoyed the shopping, she has a gorgeous new pair of wellies, courtesy her aunty B.
